EXPERIENCE THE NATURE AND FLAVOURS OF SAIMAA IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ANCIENT ART EXHIBITION AND HEAR THE FASCINATING STORY OF THE ROCK PAINTINGS!
Join us on a boat trip through the beautiful Lake Saimaa landscape to explore the 6,000-year-old rock art of Astuvansalmi. These magnificent rock paintings – the largest in Northern Europe – tell their ancient story with many different images. Along the way, your guide will share the origins and meaning of the paintings, while also opening up the story of Lake Saimaa itself – a landscape shaped by the Ice Age.
The journey to the site takes about half an hour, and a welcome drink is enjoyed on the boat. A handmade seasonal meal with dessert is served in nature, prepared from the best ingredients of the season. We favour local produce and work closely with small producers in the surrounding area.
There is a composting toilet at the site. The excursion is weather-dependent; if conditions on the lake are not suitable, we will do our best to reschedule.
